The mission of Alzheimer's of Glynn/Brunswick, Inc. is to support individuals with Alzheimer's Disease, their caregivers and entire family, to educate the public about Alzheimer's dementia, and to build community support systems for families caring for a loved one with dementia.
Someone said at one of the spring support group meetings that there was a phone number to call if your alzheimer's patient was in the doughnut hole for insurance and you could get Aricept free for the remainder of the year. If anyone has the number I would appreciate a call. Also any ideas of how to handle late afternoon and night confusion.

ReplyDeleteLate afternoon confusion/agitation, commonly referred to as "sundowner syndrome," can sometimes be alleviated by minimizing afternoon activity and noise and creating a quieter environment. Exercise, dining out, and other socialization might need to be limited after mid-afternoon. Increasing lighting in the house can help reduce confusion. Always let your doctor know about any changes in symptoms, in case medication should be considered.
